“In the Presence of Royalty”

I am sitting,
arms wrapped around bended knees
watching and humming a tune

I am crying,
A longing wrapped around my smiles
Watching and awaiting a tune

I am trying
Mind wrapped around my dreams
Watching and hearing a tune

I am winning
Smile wrapped around my praise
Watching and teaching a tune

My name is Esther and this is how I start my day every morning, day dreaming of the day my prince will come and take me away; not because I am suffering but because I want to give my heart to another completely. Then one day out of the blues I am chosen to go to the King. I cannot believe it. There is no time to think, I am whisked away and prepared by young maidens to meet real royalty! Guess what? I am picked from a thousand other beauties and I am the one. The moment his eyes fell on me, I knew he would pick me. I was crowned Queen.

I thought I would just love him because he loved me. I thought I would simply fall in his arms and let him love me. He would spoil me and I would melt at his touch………..Enter REALITY CHECK!

Helloooooooooooo who is this man? How did I get here? Do I even get a say in this matter? I want my own life back. I don’t want to spend my afternoons in your courts and my early morning hours staring at you. It’s about me too. Where is my opinion in all this? I am not one of these court maidens who would faint at the sight of you. I am Esther! I have my own identity, so don’t think you rescued me and I should be grateful. I want my old life back! There I said it!

People sometimes find themselves here – someone obviously loves you but you just can’t bring yourself to stay long enough to totally commit to a steady relationship

A lot of times the reason is because your heart belongs to another or you are looking for that next big thing.

Well guess what? That next big thing is right here, right now in the presence of the one who loves you deeply. We say we love God but how do you love without the time investment? How do you start the day with just a rushed hello?

You can’t truly grow in love with someone unless you invest the time.

Start here:

  1. Read a psalm, they talk about who God is
  2. Sing a song of praise
  3. Say the Lord’s Prayer – make it personal to you
  4. Read something about God
  5. Carry his presence with you for the rest of the day
  6. Expect his miracles and answers
  7. Be thankful
