The Journey to the Cross, Day 38 “Bloody Sweat”

The Riverbank Lent 2011 Devotional Plan
“The Journey to the Cross”
Day 38:Luke 22:39-62

Focus: verse 44
“And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became as it were great drops of blood falling down upon the ground.”

Meditation:
Honestly, prayer could be painful, an agony, a struggle and an extremely difficult especially when it involves a surrender. It is an exchange that costs greatly. Giving up to go up is costly.

Jesus Christ the son of God, who was one with God (John 1), struggled mightily with this exchange. Do you know Jesus Christ asked God out of the ‘cross journey’ three times ?

Recall that Jesus Christ had seen the resurrection before He came to the earth. The numerous sons and daughters that were coming, He saw! The many that were to ‘walk the talk’ of healing, deliverance, victory and much more, He saw ! The many that will share the ‘Good News’ of the Kingdom of God, Jesus saw yet Jesus Christ wrestled with this notion until his sweat became bloody.

What agony turned Jesus’ sweat to bloody ones ?
What did He see ? Well, to answer that question, may I ask what did He do afterwards ?

Prayer:
I pray that each one of us will have the strength to yield to God’s will continually regardless of the cost in Jesus name, Amen.

God’s blessings,
Pst Flo
